In Trempealeau I once again had a day off, my last one before the three day finish to Minneapoplis. We started the day having a coffee on the deck from where you have a beautiful view on the river. Later on I had lunch with Annie (Brad´s wife) and Mike (Beth´s brother) at Beedle´s Bar and we went to an beautiful located apple orchard with a maze and caramel apples. In the afternoon we had a few beer in the town which literally consists of two bars and a church. It was a relaxed sunny day and I could recharge my batteries for the last three days of cycling to Minneapolis. The Great River Road going North continued to be beautiful and it was different compared to the plains. I went bast bluffs, forests, more cornfields, cute little towns, over a few hills and made it all the way from Red Wings to Lake Elmo, MI on Wednesday.

In Trempealeau habe ich noch mal einen letzten Pausentag eingelegt bevor es zum drei-Tages Endspurt Richtung Minneapolis ging. Der Tag wurde ganz relaxed mit einem Kaffee auf der Terrasse begonnen, von der aus man direkt auf den Fluss blickt. Später haben Annie (Brad´s Frau), Mike (Beth´s Bruder) und ich unter anderem in Beedle´s Bar Lunch gegessen, wir sind zu einer wunderschön gelegenen Apfelplantage mit Mais Labyrinth gefahren und hatten nachmittags ein paar Bier in dem Ort, der buchstäblich aus zwei Bar´s und einer Kirche besteht. Es war ein entspannter, sonniger Tag, in dem ich noch mal neue Energie für die letzten drei Tage getankt habe.
Die Great River Road Richtung Norden war landschaftlich weiterhin super schön und noch mal ganz anders als die Prärie. Vorbei an steilen Felsvorsprüngen, Wäldern, mehr Maisfeldern und kleinen Orten ging es inklusive einiger Hügel am Mittwoch von Red Wings nach Lake Elmo, MI.
