Las Vegas, the next huge city I didn’t want to miss on this tour.
It turned out that Susan (the contact, Liz gave me) is the manager of the ‘Jabbawockeez’. For that reason and because of her last job, she has lots of contacts in Vegas. Her question, if I was adventurous and wanted to experience something, I, of course, answered with ‘Yes’. Let’s be adveturous!
My stay in Vegas couldn’t have been better and the three days were just unbelievable with all the activities! Susan showed me ‘the Las Vegas strip’, we flew over Vegas with a helicopter by night, had a drink in a casino, I finally tried a burger at ‘in-n-out-burgers’, we went Ziplining downtown in the Fremont street, I was allowed to watch a small video production of the Jabbawockees, and saw the whole show in the evening, we made a trip through the Red Rock Canyon and the last evening I watched the show again in MGM – highly recommendable!

Today Susan and Ben brought me along to St. George and I am glad that they insisted. 120 miles desert, no shadow, little possibility to refill water and more than 45°C. Maybe I should have come here at another season, to do this by bike. From St. George I now turn east, where some natioinal parks wait for me :)

Las Vegas; die nächste riesige Stadt, die ich auf diesem Trip nicht auslassen wollte. Es stellte sich heraus, dass Susan (der Kontakt, der mir von Liz vermittelt wurde) die Managerin von den Jabbawockeez (http://www.jbwkz.com/mgm/ ) ist. Sie hatte dadurch und durch ihre Arbeit zuvor relativ viele Kontakte in Vegas. Ihre Frage, ob ich abentuerlustig wäre und was erleben will, habe ich natürlich mit ´ja´ beantwortet. Let´s be adventurous! Mein Besuch in Las Vegas hätte nicht besser sein können und die drei Tage waren durch all die Unternehmungen einfach unglaublich! Susan hat mir ´the Las Vegas strip´ gezeigt, wir sind nachts mit dem Helikopter über Vegas geflogen, hatten einen Drink im Casino, ich kam endlich dazu einen Burger bei ´in-n-out burgers´ zu probieren, wir sind Ziplining in downtown in der Fremont street gewesen, ich konnte bei einem kleinen Videodreh von den Jabbawockeez zugucken, natürlich auch die ganze Show am Abend sehen, wir sind durch den Red Rock Canyon gefahren und am letzten Abend habe ich mir die Show im MGM noch mal angesehen- sehr zu empfehlen!

Heute haben mich Susan und Ben nach St. George gebracht und ich bin froh, dass sie darauf bestanden haben. 120 Milen Wüste, kein Schatten, kaum Möglichkeiten zwischendurch Wasser aufzufüllen und über 45°C draußen. Vielleicht hätte ich doch eine andere Jahreszeit wählen sollen, um hier mit dem Rad unterwegs zu sein. Von St George aus geht es nun mit dem Rad weiter Richtung Osten, wo einige Nationalparks warten:)
